What We're Looking For
Responsible for interpreting client goals and program requirements needed to establish design goals and parameters on large and complex project assignments. Responsible for communication of design concepts to client and project teams. Serves as a resource to the project architect and project manager as the design is developed. Provides mentorship and guidance to individuals with less experience.
We are currently seeking a Sr. Project Designer to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate with our architecture design leadership to develop creative design solutions for a variety of projects and coordinate the implementation of the design intent through all phases of the project – conceptual design through project opening. Your role will include development of the overall design direction, generation of design concepts, leading client presentations, organizing internal design workshops, and preparing documents during the design development stages of the project and following through during subsequent phases to ensure that the design vision is executed in the final product.
You will have full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating large scale complex projects and delegating design assignments to other key design members of the project team. You will be an integral member of the team during business development activities, participating in project pursuit and proposal strategy sessions, coordination of interview strategies and assisting in the development of design concepts and winning presentations.
Strong preference will be given to those individuals possessing prior large-scale sports architecture (arenas, stadiums, sports performance centers, and training facilities) experience.
Develops creative design concepts and leads development of design documents during early phases of project development. Projects will vary in scale and type, and include projects of national public significance.
Demonstrates judgment in determining the project goals of the client through direct client contact and team communication.
Collaborates with design team and oversees less experienced designers to implement and execute design intent.
Reviews work of other project designers for accuracy, completeness and design quality.
Collaborates with Project Manager(s) and Sr. Project Architect(s) to ensure project is on schedule, on budget, reflects the latest industry trends, and meets all project business objectives.
Engages the entire project team in design charrettes and workshops during the project, fostering a culture of design excellence.
Maintains regular communication with client representatives to verify design requirements, progress reviews and design delivery.
Coordinates quality of design product throughout the project process.
Prepare client presentations and presents design concepts and drawings.
Business Development - Supports the marketing and business development initiatives of the office on project pursuits and may have active participation in strategy sessions, war rooms, and interviews.
Other responsibilities will include: input in decisions with office management, recruiting and staff development, organization of design charrettes, design reviews, and maintaining knowledge of design profession and industry trends.
Performs material research and participates in the coordination and preparation of project specifications.

Bachelor's degree in Architecture plus 10-15 years of experience preferred.
Minimum 5 years related Sports Architecture design experience preferred.
Advanced knowledge about sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines.
Outstanding ability to foster a collaborative team environment, mentor and supervise other younger staff members preferred.
Exceptional design skills and track record of design excellence preferred.
Knowledge of detailing, building materials, construction techniques, related architecture/engineering principles, industry trends, technology, and building codes preferred.
Strong graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas, including a strong ability to sketch by hand in 2D/3D preferred.
Proficiency in the use of 2D/3D software, including Revit, 3D Studio MAX, Sketchup, Adobe Suite products, Lumion, Enscape, Rhino, InDesign and Illustrator.
State Licensure and LEED accreditation is a plus.

What You'll Need
Provides interpretation of client’s goals and programs. Prepares design concepts consistent with client’s goals, budget and schedule.
Works closely with the project architect and protect manager in planning and implementing all work processes.
Mentors and works with other team members, including those with less experience.
Serves as subject matter expert on architectural projects of the largest size.
Reviews and supervises work of less experienced architects. May act in a team lead capacity in the absence of the manager.
Develops and presents design viewpoint on all projects. Ensures that a design solution, consistent with the program, budget and schedule is properly developed and produced.
Assists with the promotion, discipline, performance review, work allocation, training and mentoring of staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, or Interior Design
