HNTB TSM&O/ITS Engineer II in Miami, Florida
What We're Looking For
The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB is currently seeking a TSM&O/ITS Engineer I to work out of either of our Miami, FL or Fort Lauderdale, FL office.
Assists assigned department by performing engineering-related tasks including research, development, calculations, design and delivery on assigned project(s).
Primary Focus Will Include:
Technical and program management support to HNTB's South Florida clients including FDOT Districts 4 and 6, Miami-Dade Expressway Authority and Florida's Turnpike Enterprise.
Emerging mobility technology solutions - TSM&O, ITS, Connected Automated Vehicle technology, Adaptive Signal Control Technology, Real-time Travel Time Systems, and the like.
Collect and analyze data to prepare satisfactory designs.
Provide direction to drafting personnel in preparing design drawings.
Conduct investigative analyses toward completion of assigned design tasks, and direct preparation of design drawings and/or specifications.
Perform design calculations.
Check calculations and drawings.
Perform specific short term design applications.
Organize scheduling of specific tasks and assignments.
Develop Concept of Operations (ConOps) and other Systems Engineering documentation for Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) / Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) projects including Connected and Automated Vehicle technology projects.
Develop technical documents including, but not limited to feasibility studies, concept reports, concept plans related to various ITS components such as fiber optic communications system, closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras, dynamic message signs (DMS), vehicle detection system (VDS), ramp signaling, wrong-way driving, roadside units (RSUs), on-board units (OBUs), and the like.
Develop request for proposal (RFP) and scope documentation which includes technical, functional and design requirements for ITS projects to be procured by client agencies.
Perform ITS analysis and prepare design - project plans, specifications and estimates for various ITS components for fiber optic or wireless communications, CCTV cameras, detectors, DMS, video wall and other ITS/Technology devices.
Review design plans, specifications, shop drawings and other technical documentation developed by others and provide comments regarding conformance to design standards, codes and specifications.
Develop test plans and procedures for various ITS components.
Develop program level TSM&O Plans – strategic plans, action plans, needs plans.
Support traffic signal design and highway lighting projects.
Coordinate and perform ITS field reviews, data collection and analysis in support of other tasks.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Master's degree in Engineering

Assists in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
2 years relevant experience
