The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB is seeking Project Coordinators at our NY project office located at JFK Airport.
HNTB is the program manager at the JFK International Airport Redevelopment Program for the PANYNJ. The JFK Tenant Facilities Office is responsible for the processing of Tenant Construction Alteration Applications (i.e various tenant design and construction projects within a tenant’s leasehold ranging from full terminal developments to concession area rehabilitations to passenger loading bridges, frontage roads and ramp work)
Reporting to the Manager of Physical Plant and the Manager of Airport Facility Projects at JFK the Tenant Construction and Alternation Process (TCAP) coordinator positions will be responsible for closing backlog Tenant Alternation Applications (TAAs) and coordinating existing projects. The incumbent will provide project management and coordination of the Tenant Construction and Alteration Process (TCAP) for the closure of both open design and construction comments of TAAs, including terminals, cargo building and other tenants. Specifically, the TCAP Project Manager shall facilitate all work related to TCAP including tenant correspondence, submittal tracking and management, documentation control, resolution of rider comments and construction comments with the aim of closing the TAA within the Agency’s tracking system.
Performs basic contract administration functions for small to medium projects. Assists in performing field engineering inspection and contract administration functions in order to monitor individual contractor's compliance with specifications, plans and other contract provisions.
The selected candidate will:
Be assigned to the JFK Redevelopment Program with daily reporting to the Manager of Physical Plant and Redevelopment, and Manager of Facility Projects, and work closely with the JFK Tenant Liaison Office currently engaging in Active TAAs as well as other Project Managers assigned to the JFK.
Be responsible for collaborating with JFK Tenant Liaison Office project management staff, tenant project management staff and their engineers / architects, as well as Port Authority engineering, quality assurance, design and construction staff in order to facilitate reviews of tenant submissions in the pursuit of obtaining a Final Permit for the subject TAA.
Facilitate all work related to TCAP including tenant correspondence, submittal tracking and management through the Agency software workflow, document control, issuance of alteration permits, issuance of temporary and coordination, resolution and issuance of rider comments, as well as managing tenant alteration closeouts
Oversight and technical coordination of design, construction and airport facility comments. In addition to building code reviews by engineering quality assurance, there will be reviews by engineering design to confirm compliance with commercial design guidelines, sustainable design requirements, security protocols and contract requirements/provisions for work. Engineering construction will also review designs for compliance with phasing, staging, traffic control, environmental commitments and lease obligations.
Provide external coordination, issuance of rider comments, reporting and evaluating progress, and preparing and/or reviewing presentation materials and letters to third parties, with a focus on resolution of conflicts among and between PA departments, NYC agencies, utility companies, airlines, local community, and all other JFK stakeholders

This is an entry level position. New Graduates up to 3 years’ experience.
Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or related field
Exposure to the transportation infrastructure and technology projects, including knowledge of design, construction and procurement, is a plus but not necessary.
Past experience working on Aviation / Airport project or programs a plus – but not necessary
Knowledge of NYC Building Code Requirements, including NYC Fire Codes is a plus but not necessary must understand the basics of what building codes are and their functions in the process.
The ideal succession plan for this position is to incorporate them into the JFK Redevelopment program as Jr. Project Managers.

What You'll Need
Inspects and documents individual activities performed by the contractor.

Reads and comprehends contract documents.
Keeps inspectors daily report of assigned work activities.
Maintains overall project daily diary.
Prepares monthly construction estimates.
Assists in on-site material testing.
Maintains project data and documents, including drawings, specifications, test results and reports.
Coordinates testing and monitoring services.
Coordinates and schedules quality control inspections.
Prepares routine reports on construction progress.
Performs mathematical calculations for quantity payments.
Produces as-constructed sketches are required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
